Welcome to my Purchase Handbags page!
I get asked all the time where my inspiration comes from for my vintage feathered handbags. First off, I love decadence, elegance, beauty, luxury and dress items that have timeless style with an edge. I love classic shapes and I have created a cool style that will go with any outfit from that little black dress to a baggy sweater and jeans.
I use a mixture of new and vintage handbags.
The vintage handbags I find and ‘up-cycle’ are from the 1950’s, 60’s & 70’s. These handbags were made to last and have strong classic shapes, frames and handles. They are very sturdy and even though some of them are still around after 50+ years, they are in amazing condition. I love to work with the strong-framed handbags as I feel they represent strength through time. I always think of the women who used these handbags before and what the stories of their lives might have been. I wonder what each vintage piece has seen and where it has traveled throughout the world. 'Up-cycling' these vintage handbags in my designs are blank canvases to me on which I can create never-ending art and designs. There are so many beautiful colors and combinations, in addition to unlimited themes to draw inspiration from. I also seek out vintage & new jewelry for the embellishments from all over the world, some of which date back as early as the 1920’s.
When you purchase an ‘Inspired By Claire Jane’ Vintage Feathered Handbag, you know you are acquiring a handbag that truly transcends time and a unique one-of-a-kind piece of timeless ‘wearable art.’

About the Feathers: I get asked questions all the time & as an animal lover and pet owner I'm very conscious of where they come from! I have used various feathers in my collection Cocque, Goose & Peacock ~ As I create one of kind pieces and don't wholesale so I purchase my feathers from various crafting stores and downtown LA. All my peacock feathers are from sites online and are naturally molted and cruelty free.

Feather Care Suggestions
Feather Care Suggestions for your ‘ICJUK’ Wearable Art.
Feathered items may become compacted during shipping. Items will return to fuller shape after a short time once they are unpacked and allowed to expand. See below for tips to speed things up.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Handle your feathers gently. Avoid breaking shafts or pulling on them. Dust or blow-dry them regularly if displayed. Clean with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Store in a dry place. All feather fibers can be combed gently with a toothbrush or can be stroked back together with your fingers to ‘zipper’ the fibers back in place. A little steam can help natural colored feathers.
Many dyed feathers are not colorfast and may bleed onto other feathers or fabrics when wet. Please test for colorfast properties, if need be. If feathers have static from shipping, rubbing them gently with a dryer sheet will resolve the problem.
